Choosing between ‘note – taking’ apps (ps. Dropbox Paper is chosen later)

I needed to merge all (or many) of my to do lists, reminders, brainstorming, reminders etc. into one place. Specially, should be able to access it on-the-go. Hence the app should be mobile friendly at the same time. And most importantly FREE. I am not going to pay for an app at this stage, I’m broke. These are my criteria when choosing a note-taking app.

I’m not a fan of Evernote or MS OneNote. So, had to choose something else. I came across Google Keep and Dropbox Paper. Both have their pros and cons.

I initially started with Google Keep. Things I like about Google Keep are; it’s merged with Google Apps, accessible (mobile) and I can refer to other Google apps, free. However, no much opportunity for Brainstorming.

Then I did a simple search to find what are good (best) note taking apps and came across with TechRadar’s post. Going through the list of potential apps and their features, I chose Dropbox Paper. It’s accessible on the go, free, I can create folders and add notes, ideas etc., refer from multiple computers.

Right now, I am going to use the Dropbox Paper for a few days and come back to this post and add an end note/ footnote.

Here I am back again for an afterthought about Dropbox Paper.

So far I like the features. I have the liberty to create/organise contents into folders and group. Also, they have a few templates for Brainstorming, project planning etc. They are handy if that is your objective of using Paper. I haven’t used collaboration aspects of the tool yet and no plan of using them in near future. My intention is to keep all my notes, reminders, scrabbling work, to-do lists in one place. In this way I can revisit my ideas and shape them when and accordingly they are relevant to my studies.

Saying that, I conclude my perspective of Dropbox Paper as a to-do list user. This is an independent review and has no commercial aspect to.

I was silent …. It’s time to get active and running

I started this blog with much enthusiasm and energy. However, in reality too many things to handle personally and professionally. Hence, I wasn’t active as much as I thought I will be.

Anyway………….

Are all of my problems resolved? NO NO NO.. THEY ARE NOT. If that is the case, how am I going to continue in the future?

If I leave this work behind until I resolve my other issues, it’s never going to happen. So, let me start somewhere. Saying that, I am trying to be active more than before. I am going to write down even the minor incidents, so I will develop my writing and writing makes me happy and relieved.

I invite you all to visit my blog and let me know what you feel about my writing, topics or anything else you feel about commenting. Good day..

Reflecting Anticipating Black Futures symposium

I attended this ‘Anticipating Black Futures’ symposium organised by three Black Scholars from Midland4Cities, one of them who is a friend of mine. The symposium had a plan of discussing matters related to the future of the Black community in the UK (and elsewhere) and held at the Millennium Point, Birmingham City University.

Did I had high expectations?, hmm.. Well I expected the general conference setting and the atmosphere. However, through Keisha, I knew the symposium will be more interactive than a regular symposium, hence a smaller crowd of participants were invited.

Man, that was amazing and the most exited and live audience you could expect. The panel discussions were not second to the audience. The discussions were timely, relevant and specially new emerging themes with regard to the Black British community in the UK such as resting, pleasure, smart communities, educational tools. These were a few of the themes were in discussion.

All in all, it was an amazing atmosphere and I just wish all the conferences will be energetic as this. (p.s. : I prefer the small crowd conference structure with two way communication, effective networking)

So this is how it started (continued)

Sitting on my bed (for comfort), I created my first blog. I had in mind to create my own blog for some time , however was never put into action. At different stages, the blog (in mind) had different themes, from Information Technology to Quality Assurance, to Business Management to Cooking to Craft work and so on and so forth.. However, as non of them happened, hence my (mostly) academic blog begins herewith, which records a another milestone.

May be in few years of time, I might come back and read this post and would say, ‘hmm, so that’s how it started’.. hip hip hooray….
